High level economy development plan of Bielsko-Biała introduced to the wider audience!

On the 6th of June there was an event organised by Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Bielsko-Biała together with Regional Development Agency.

It was the second edition of Neighbors for Neighbors Business Congress – the unique event on the regional scale where SMEs and family companies meet and share their business experiences and learn about new business solutions, cooperation possibilities and new ways of doing business. This years’ edition was focused on the innovativeness – industry 4.0, smart specialisations, 3D printing, automation, robotics and innovative technologies in the production process – those where the main topics of the congress. Between those – URBACT Local Group Moderator and author of the Integrated Action Plan of Bielsko-Biała, Mr. Marcin Baron, has the speech about the innovative business approach through multilevel cooperation, based on the experiences of the works of ULG and the projects indicated in the action plan. All of presented ideas met with enthusiastic reception of the audience – few of entrepreneurs even expressed their will of cooperation in bringing some projects to live.

The integrated action plan of Bielsko-Biała was made on the basis of the work of ULG consisted of more than 60 participants that came from business, academic environment, local government and institutions of social and economic development. They decided upon an action plan targeting three economic specialisations of Bielsko-Biała: advanced manufacturing, modern material technologies and specialised IT products and services. The name of the action plan is ‘Bielsko-Biała: High Level Economy’ because it is not the elevation that makes the city so unique, but its innovative economy, world-class industrial solutions and a strong entrepreneurial milieu that we enjoy every day.

According to the plan, the competitive position of Bielsko-Biała and its economic specialisations will be shaped by two direct and two indirect key success factors. The direct factors are: qualified staff and innovative solutions, the indirect are: settlement attractiveness plus creative industries and leisure time opportunities. They can be boosted by three driving forces: modern technical education and training, R&D cooperation, regeneration of city’s exogenous functions.

Projects that have been created can be implemented from right now. We already have partnerships, we want to talk about improving the educational offer in accordance with the needs of the labor market, to promote the Bielsko-Biała brand as a place for a professional career and a good place to study. We also want to build partnerships for innovation and to implement projects promoting research and development cooperation, so that the modern Bielsko-Biała industry can be further developed. No doubt it will be beneficial for the whole city.
