The team of the project ProteCHt2save met again. The meeting took place in Szczyrk on 21-23 January 2019. It was hosted by the District Bielski and the Regional Development Agency Bielsko-Biała.

Within the project, experts and specialists prepare many useful manuals and documents supporting the processes of protection of the cultural heritage on each stage – starting from the risk identification to the effective emergency plan in case of the direct threat, decision support tools, strategic plans, interactive maps of the environmental risks in Central Europe, good and bad practices. Many of the documents are already available on the project website: Interreg Central Europe

The current activities of Polish partners include – among others – organising the local focus group meeting in Bielsko-Biała and the preparation for the cultural heritage protection plan for our pilot site based on the best European practices and templates. As the pilot site, the church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Stara Wieś was chosen. The wooden building is located in the proximity of the landslides and is exposed to the strong stream of the rainwater during the intense rainfalls.
The present building is the second church built in 1522. The first remarks about the previous church date on the same year. The building is unique – the wooden part of the construction from the 16. century is preserved despite of the changes from later centuries, as well as multiple artefacts from as early as 14. And 15 centuries.
